Backbone of Governance

The Administration Department is the backbone of Zagimē Anishinabēk’s governance, ensuring the smooth and effective management of programs and services that support our Nation. We oversee day-to-day operations while also guiding long-term planning, always grounded in the principles of transparency, accountability, and cultural integrity.

Our role is to connect leadership with the community, making sure that decisions reflect the voices and values of our people. Administration works closely with Chief and Council, program directors, and staff to coordinate essential services ranging from housing and finance to education, health, and community wellness. By providing consistent oversight, we strengthen trust and create an environment where all other departments can thrive.

We also act as the first point of contact for external partners, building relationships with government, industry, and other First Nations. Whether managing resources, facilitating partnerships, or ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, Administration is dedicated to supporting sustainable growth while honoring our responsibilities under Treaty and to future generations

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is dedicated to supporting the people who serve our Nation. We oversee recruitment, training, and professional development to ensure that staff are equipped with the skills and tools needed to deliver quality programs and services. Learning House

The Learning House is a center for lifelong learning, cultural knowledge, and personal development. Income Support

The Income Support Program provides assistance to members who are experiencing financial challenges. We deliver benefits designed to meet basic needs while also encouraging self-sufficiency and long-term stability. Our team works closely with individuals and families to provide guidance, connect them with training or employment programs, and help navigate available resources. The goal is to ensure that every member has access to essential supports during times of need while creating pathways toward greater independence.

Economic Development

The Economic Development Department drives initiatives that create prosperity and opportunities for the Nation. We manage band-owned businesses, support entrepreneurship, and explore partnerships that generate jobs and revenue. Guided by the principle of economic sovereignty, our focus is on projects that are sustainable, innovative, and rooted in community values. By reinvesting profits back into programs and infrastructure, we ensure that economic growth directly benefits our members and contributes to long-term self-reliance.

Finance

The Finance Department ensures responsible stewardship of the Nation’s resources. We manage budgets, financial reporting, audits, and compliance with transparency and accountability. Our role is to support Chief and Council in making informed financial decisions while also ensuring that community programs have the resources they need to succeed. Through careful planning and oversight, Finance safeguards the economic stability of Zagimē Anishinabēk today while preparing for future growth and opportunity.
