Services

Sakimay Health Centre

The Sakimay Health Centre provides direct, community-based healthcare services to Zagimē Anishinabēk members. Our team offers primary care, public health programs, chronic disease support, and preventative services tailored to the needs of the Nation. We focus on improving access to quality care while integrating traditional healing practices, ensuring that health services reflect both cultural values and modern medical standards. By delivering care close to home, the Health Centre strengthens overall wellness and supports healthier, more resilient families.

Daycare

The Daycare service provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for the youngest members of our community. Our goal is to support early childhood development by fostering learning, creativity, and cultural identity from the start. Through age-appropriate programming, nutritious meals, and caring staff, we help children build the foundation for lifelong success. The Daycare also supports working parents and guardians by offering reliable childcare that balances play, education, and cultural teachings.

child & Family Wellness

The Child and Family Wellness service supports the health and well-being of families through programs that focus on parenting, nutrition, child development, and family support. We provide resources and counseling to help parents and guardians nurture strong, healthy households. This service also works to prevent family crises and strengthen bonds by offering culturally appropriate care that reflects the values of the Nation. By supporting families, we ensure that children grow up with the stability and love they need to thrive.

Prevention

The Prevention service is dedicated to reducing illness, injury, and chronic disease through education, awareness, and proactive care. Programs focus on areas such as immunizations, diabetes prevention, mental health awareness, and substance use education. We aim to equip community members with knowledge and resources that encourage healthier choices and long-term wellness. Prevention efforts also integrate traditional teachings, ensuring that care is not only medical but also cultural, spiritual, and holistic.

Sports & Recreation

The Sports and Recreation service promotes active living and community engagement through organized sports, fitness programs, and recreational activities. By creating opportunities for members of all ages to participate in physical activity, we encourage healthier lifestyles, teamwork, and positive social connections. From youth sports leagues to community wellness events, our programs help strengthen physical health while also building pride and unity across the Nation.

First Nations Representative Services

First Nations Representative Services supports Zagimē Anishinabēk children, youth, and families in navigating child welfare and related systems. The program safeguards rights, promotes fairness, and ensures decisions reflect cultural values. Acting as a bridge with provincial agencies, it helps keep children connected to family, language, and traditions. Through collaboration with families, service providers, and government partners, it strengthens unity, resilience, and cultural identity for future generations.
